“We can no longer build houses the way we built them in the past years” Werner Sobek-

The construction industry is facing radical transformations: In an interview, civil engineer and architect Werner Sobek explains how we can solve the problem of scarce raw materials and unnecessary emissions, why beautiful buildings are more sustainable and why we should keep our hands off wood. The article is available (only in german) at www.welt.de

The civil engineer and architect Werner Sobek is a founding member of the German Sustainable Building Council. Since 1995 he has criticised the sole focus on thermal insulation in energy-efficient construction. Instead of passive houses, he designs what he calls active houses. He calls for emission-free buildings and the electric city.
